Use Your Child’s Messy Room to Teach

kids-messy-roomAre you spring cleaning? Is your child responsible for cleaning his room? Use these opportunities to teach your kids about the importance of having a clean heart.

No matter how much we clean our houses or rooms, there will always be some dirt we can’t clean or reach. The same is true for sin. No matter how much we try to do good, nothing can get rid of our sin except forgiveness from God and salvation through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross.

Here are some verses that may be of use when teaching your children:

Job 13:23 (ESV)- “How many are my iniquities and my sins? Make me know my transgression and my sin.”

Psalm 51:10 (ESV)- “Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.”

1 John 1:9 (ESV)- “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Romans 10:9 (ESV)- “because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
